I’ve crafted all my life; I find it inspiring and therapeutic! I have made jewellery, knitted, tried papercraft and many many more, but I was always looking for something a bit different! Living on the South Coast I spend a lot of time on the beach and one day I had the unusual idea of taking a beautiful by-product of nature a seashell and mixing it with something artificial – a rhinestone, and see what happens! The result as you can see was quite spectacular and unbelievably popular.
This success inspired me to move forward and use rhinestones in a variety of different media to create art and Seaside Sparkles began! I now produce a range of artwork with a little or a lot of rhinestones!
Sparkles make me happy and I use them to enhance my work, a particular favourite of mine is the Smiley – inspired by my love of dance music and the artist Fatboy Slim. A highlight of my crafting career was presenting my musical hero Norman Cook with a piece of Smiley Rhinestone art which I am proud to say he now displays in his home!
I love continually creating and am inspired by customer requests, bespoke orders are always welcome.
